While the average demand expression in many territories sees similar levels between linear and digital originals, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and local series such as İçerde are far more in demand that anything Netflix and Amazon can muster.
Netflix says originals are key to its future. This year alone, the streaming-video giant plans to spend $6 billion to create 1,000 hours of original programming. This makes sense because Netflix originals like Narcos and Luke Cage, which are produced or streamed exclusively by the platform, have driven sign-ups, the company has said.
But are originals driving Netflix’s stock price? Researchers at Parrot Analytics took a closer look to find out.
Parrot Analytics, a big data TV demand measurement firm based in the United States that provides weekly market data to Mediaweek, has revealed that demand for Billions has shot up more than three-fold in the month of February to-date due to audience anticipation and the show’s launch.
Netflix is winning the streaming battle with competing services including Amazon Video and Hulu when it comes to original shows, a new report shows. Interestingly, HBO Now isn’t included in the comparison.
