Top 10 Most In-Demand Shows in the US (March 5–11, 2017)

For the second week in a row, Rhett & Link’s Buddy System is the most in-demand digital original series. Its high demand is likely due to the appearance of The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik on Rhett and Link’s daily YouTube show earlier in the month, which drove demand for their Red series as well. However, demand has fallen by 37% since last week, suggesting that Buddy System will not remain the top show for long. In addition, few new digital originals have been released recently, allowing older titles like Buddy System to rise to the top.

Marvel’s Luke Cage’s steady demand was enough to make it the second-most in-demand series this week. Orange is the New Black, The Man in the High Castle, House of Cards, and The OA all had less than a 10% week-to-week change in demand, indicating that they will remain in the top 10 until new titles or new seasons are released, attracting more demand. The biggest changes this week were Santa Clarita Diet, which fell by 26%, and Hulu’s The Path, which ended its second season on March 8 and ranked third by demand.

Finales and premieres also changed the title ranking overall. After eight popular seasons, The Vampire Diaries ended on March 3: High demand for this event caused it to rise to be the sixth most in-demand show in the US. ABC’s Once Upon a Time also reappeared in the top ten after it began airing new episodes on March 5. Though it did not change in rank, the announcement of Game of Thrones’ season 7 release date on March 9 caused the show’s demand to increase by 24%.
