A Parrot Quick Insight

Korean content has had notable success being exported to international markets. Korean dramas (popularly know as K-Dramas) have become an international phenomenon in their own right. In the US, two highly successful adaptations that were originally Korean series are The Good Doctor and The Masked Singer. Following its win at the Oscars this year, Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite is being adapted as a series at HBO.

In the chart below we show the top 10 Korean series with the highest travelability. This metric is a measure of a show’s global appeal and helps evaluate which shows are good candidates for international distribution. The series with the highest travelability is My Husband Got a Family with 37.78 times the travelability of the average Korean show. In the past month, the demand per capita for this series is highest in the United States, even higher than in its home country.
