Contributing to the expansion of Japanese content exports by leveraging objective third-party data amid growing global demand for Japanese TV programs, films, and more
Nippon Electric Company, Limited (NEC)
Date: February 28, 2025
NEC will commence a sales collaboration with Parrot Analytics for its global content value measurement data service, DEMAND360, starting March 1, 2025, in the Japanese market.
The export market for Japanese content (IP) reached approximately 5.8 trillion yen in 2023 surpassing industries such as steel and semiconductors, and is projected to continue expanding.
Through this sales collaboration, NEC aims to support further growth in Japanese content exports by offering DEMAND360 to TV stations, publishers, and other IP content holders.
Additionally, in overseas markets where piracy and infringing content are prevalent, NEC will promote initiatives that facilitate smooth content distribution based on data, contributing to the development of a healthy content ecosystem.
The "Demand360" service being introduced in Japan holds patented technology that quantifies global consumer demand for TV shows, movies, and actors. It provides accurate evaluations across different services and markets.
Since 2015, content measurement has been standardized across more than 200 countries worldwide. The service offers tools to track long-term market share trends of streaming platforms and quantify the cumulative value of each platform, making it widely used by major global IP content holders.
DEMAND360 is trusted and widely used by many leading global IP content holders.
Through this collaboration with Parrot Analytics, NEC aims to:
- Support Japanese IP content holders in their overseas sales efforts
- Further expand NEC’s media business
Additionally, NEC plans to leverage this collaboration to further expand its media business operations. Examples of companies expected to use the service include:
- Television Broadcasters: For departments handling international program sales at broadcasters that produce their own programs.
- Publishers: For companies involved with IP such as manga content.
- Game Companies: For companies planning and developing global expansion of games utilizing IP.
