Venezuela genre and subgenre preferences for series

  • Venezuela had the largest share of demand for children’s content in this report. 21.0% of demand for shows was for a children’s series in Q1 2024.
  • News content was also popular in Venezuela. The 3.4% of demand that these series accounted for was more than the global share of demand for news shows (1.3%).
  • The mystery genre did not resonate with Venezuelan audiences. Only 5.6% of demand for shows was for a mystery series, which is less than half the global share of demand for these shows (12.5%).

  • As in other markets in Latin America, the soap opera subgenre made up a large share of demand in Venezuela. 12.6% of demand for series was for a soap opera in Q1 2024.
  • The celebrity subgenre of content was successful with Venezuelan audiences. 2.6% of demand for shows was for a celebrity series, a larger share of demand than any other market in this report.
  • Venezuela had the smallest share of demand for true crime series of markets in this report. Only 0.3% of demand for shows was for a true crime series, well below the 1.3% share of global demand for this content.

  • Original content from a Disney branded channel or platform accounted for 7.3% of demand for all shows, a greater share of demand than any other channel or platform in Venezuela in Q1 2024.
  • Two Colombian channels ranked among the top 15 in Venezuela in terms of the share of demand for their original content. Caracol and RCN Television had a 2.1% and 1.8% share of demand respectively.
  • Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon both achieved their largest share of demand in this report in Venezuela, 5.6% and 4.4% respectively. This reflects high demand in this market for kid’s content in general.

  • Caso Cerrado was Telemundo’s most in-demand show in Venezuela in Q1 2024. It ranked as the seventh most in-demand show of the quarter, a higher rank than in any other market.
  • Reality series from around the Spanish speaking world travelled well to Venezuela. La Academia (Mexico), La Voz Kids (Colombia), and Got Talent España (Spain) all ranked higher in Venezuela than in any other market in this report.
  • The Turkish drama, Hercai, ranked as the 17th most in-demand show in Venezuela for the quarter, leading other Tukish series that had high demand in this market.
