New Zealand Genre and Subgenre Preferences for Series
- New Zealand had the second largest share of demand for the crime genre in this report. 20.3% of demand for shows in New Zealand was for a crime series, which is above the global share of demand for this genre (18.0%).
- New Zealand audiences did not feel the love for the romance genre. Only 9.6% of demand for series was for a show in this genre, the lowest share of demand for romance content in this report.
- Game shows stood out as a successful format in New Zealand. 6.6% of demand for series was for a game show, the largest in this report and above the global share of demand for this genre (3.7%).
- New Zealand gave the largest share of demand to competition series of markets in this report. 4.6% of demand for shows was for a competition series in Q2 2024.
- The panel-game format was a particularly successful subgenre of game shows in New Zealand. Nearly 1% of demand for shows was for a panel game show, the largest share of demand for the format in this report.

- Content from the UK resonated with audiences around the world in New Zealand. Original series from BBC (6.7%), ITV (2.3%), and Channel 4 (2.0%) made up a larger share of demand in New Zealand than in any other market in this report.
- Apple TV+ reached its highest demand share in New Zealand in this report. 3.6% of demand for shows was for an Apple TV+ original series in Q2 2024.
- CBS ranked second among channels and platforms in New Zealand in terms of its demand share. The 6.9% of demand that Kiwis gave to a CBS series was well above the global share of demand for these shows (4.6%).
