TV demand measurement is made possible by Parrot Analytics global television demand measurement system. Let us now take a look at the United States domestic market where Stranger Things continues to capture the attention of audiences. The 80’s pop culture nostalgic keeps its #1 spot as the most popular digital original series for the fourth week running. The demand for Stranger Things is growing and shows no signs of slowing down. Holding its #2 spot on the overall list, Netflix’s Stranger Things also continues to only be about 4.9 million Demand Expressions™ behind HBO’s mega-hit Game of Thrones.

Making a splash this week on our in-demand chart is the new Netflix musical drama title – The Get Down. With the first six episodes of this Netflix original series premiering on August 12th, and the show has immediately risen to the #2 spot as the second most popular digital original titles list. The Get Down is one to watch in the next few weeks as we see if this breakout show holds its popularity in the US and other markets.

Returning to our charts is Netflix’s Making a Murderer which has become the #5 most in-demand  digital original due to recent events around the original court case behind this popular Netflix documentary. On Friday 12th of August, it was reported that the 26 year old subject of the documentary, Brendan Dassey, had his convictions overturned by a federal judge. This may have brought audiences to revisit the documentary as they eagerly await the second season of this series.

New to the Top 10 overall chart is Big Brother, taking the #10 spot with this season’s first double eviction episode causing quite the stir. Otherwise, we see the usual favorites such as Preacher, Mr. Robot, The Walking Dead and Pretty Little Liars still in-demand overall (across cable, network and OTT platforms) in the US.
