NRC.nl writes: “Netflix has launched the six-part series “Dirty Money” by the multiple Emmy and Oscar winning director Alex Gibney. In another Netflix film, “Rotten”, viewers got to see how corporate empires destroy the food industry and the small entrepreneurs along with it. Coming this July, “Dark Money” will be released, a “political thriller that examines one of the greatest present threats to American democracy: The influence of untraceable corporate money on elections and elected officials”. There has been an increase in documentaries and series around money and the excess of wealth; our data confirms that documentaries with social themes have risen sharply last year compared to 2016.
