According to our study at the beginning of the year, natural-history documentaries experienced a surge in global demand in 2017, fueled by “high-profile and high-demand” productions. Our study concluded that natural history is now second only to biography in terms of documentary sub-genre, with Ireland experiencing the highest demand per capita for natural-history documentaries, followed by New Zealand, the U.S., Canada, Israel, Australia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Malta and the U.K.
