Parrot Analytics incorporates numerous inputs such as peer-to-peer and streaming content data, fan & critic ratings data, social media data and more to compute its weighted average of global TV popularity metric, Demand Expressions.
This week in our latest chart for the United States, Amazon’s The Grand Tour is the #3 most in-demand digital original series. Its high demand is likely due to the finale on February 16 with a parade of celebrities and stunts. Demand has increased by 32% since last week. This is the highest position the motoring-focused series has been placed since its season two launch on December 8, with 23 million Demand Expressions, for the week ending February 17.
For the second week in a row, Stranger Things did not appear in the overall TV chart. The sci-fi series from Netflix experienced a minor drop in demand. Also, Orange is the New Black, and Narcos re-entered the chart although these shows are both on hiatus.
In the overall chart, South Park, Game of Thrones, Rick and Morty and The Flash all had less than a 10% week-to-week change in demand, indicating that they will remain in the top 10 until new titles or new seasons are released, attracting more demand. The most significant changes this week were NBC’s The Is Us, which fell by 14%, and Showtime’s Shameless, which ended its eighth season on January 28 and ranked ninth by demand.
