Whilst SVOD services do not release any audience viewership data, we are able to determine how popular shows are on OTT platforms almost anywhere in the world, thanks to our Netflix, Hulu and Amazon analytics TV content popularity measurement system. This week in the United States it is all about the new shows: Netflix’s Master of None has reappeared in the chart this week when new episodes aired on May 12. The comedy series has been propelled to the third position and surpassed Orange is the New Black by 10% in demand this week. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is the tenth-most in-demand series this week because new episodes premiered on May 19.
13 Reasons Why is still the top show by a comfortable margin, followed by The Handmaid’s Tale from Hulu. Older favorites such as Marvel’s Iron Fist, Luke Cage and House of Cards are in the top ten alongside new hits such as The Last Kingdom and Sense8.
AMC’s The Walking Dead leaped back to the #1 spot in the overall show chart this week. Both the zombie series and HBO’s Game of Thrones experienced a decrease in demand compared to last week, this makes sense as these titles are currently off-the-air. CBS’s The Big Bang Theory is the only comedy in the overall TV chart, ranking above ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and AMC’s Better Call Saul.
