In this article we look at the top breakout shows of the past week. Breakout shows are the most in-demand series that have premiered in the past 90 days.
Gen V ended on a high note as its season finale brought in an 8% spike in demand for the show as audiences caught up with the series this week. While the show hit a peak demand of 43x on November 05 just two days after its finale before it began dropping, as of this week it had 39.8x the average series demand. Given the slate of new shows that have premiered, as seen below, it’s likely that audience attention will drift to newer content and we will see Gen V lose its position in first place over the next couple of weeks.
Netflix’s new adult animated series Blue Eye Samurai pushed One Piece down to take second place in the ranking with an impressive 34.4x the average series demand in its debut week. Set in 1600’s Japan, the show premiered on November 03 and has received glowing reviews so far. It isn’t entirely surprising then, to see the 441% increase in demand it had from the day it premiered. It appears that adult animated shows are having a moment in the United States, as platforms are increasingly tapping into this genre to pad their content libraries.
Another adult animated series, Max’s Scavengers Reign, also had an 8% increase in demand this week. The show moved up to take fifth place in the ranking with 25.4x the average series demand after its final three episodes premiered on November 09. Meanwhile after almost two months of strong audience demand, the other adult animated show from Max, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake finally slid off the chart to make way for two new entrants in the ranking.
The first-ever spinoff of Love Island featuring fan-favorites from the US, UK and other countries, Love Island Games debuted all its episodes on November 01. Since then, the show entered the ranking and took seventh place with 24.3x the average series demand, a massive 387% increase since last week. Hot on its heels in eighth place with a 280% increase in demand, was yet another Western drama from Paramount+ and the prolific Taylor Sheridan, Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Created by Chad Feehan, the series is based on the life of the first African American Deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River, Bass Reeves. The show premiered its first two episodes on November 05, and has since become 23.6x more in demand than the average series in the U.S. as of this week.
