In this article we look at the top breakout shows of the past week. Breakout shows are the most in-demand series that have premiered in the past 90 days.
Prime Video’s Gen V remained in first place this week, although the show did see a 5% decline in demand. The show still maintained an exceptional level of audience attention with 36.3 times the average series demand ahead of its penultimate episode which aired on October 27. Given that the finale is set to air soon on November 03, it is likely we’ll be seeing a spike in demand for the show next week.
Netflix’s One Piece and Disney+’s Ahsoka took second and third place in the ranking this week, with both shows seeing a 5% and 9% drop in demand respectively. Netflix’s drama mini-series The Fall of the House of Usher, based on a book of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe, took fourth place with 28.7 times the average series demand - a 27% drop since last week.
In fifth place we see AMC’s Daryl Dixon with 23.9 times the average series demand. This was a 21% decline in demand, indicating that the show appears to be on its downward descent in the rankings since its finale aired on October 15. Close on its heels was Paramount+’s Frasier, a revival of the beloved 90’s sitcom with the same name. The new show hit screens with most of the original characters reprising their roles after 20 years. It remains to be seen how much audience attention the series will command during its run until December 07, however as of this week it remained in the ‘outstanding’ bucket of shows with over 23 times the average series demand.
In the meantime, while most shows in the ranking had a decline in demand, two shows were an exception this week - the first was Apple TV+’s Lessons in Chemistry had a minor uptick as it took seventh place with 23 times the average series demand. The show, based on a novel of the same name which received critical acclaim, only just debuted on October 13. ABC’s The Golden Bachelor was the only other show in the ranking with an increase in demand (14%), which came after its fifth episode aired on October 26. Since the show is inching closer to its finale on November 09, we expect to see demand for the series continue to spike in the lead up.
