Finland Genre and Subgenre Preferences for Series

• Finland had the largest share of demand for the science fiction genre in this report. 16.7% of demand for series was for a sci-fi compared to 13.3% of demand for shows globally.
• Finnish audiences gave the lowest share of demand to the music genre of markets in this report (2.9%).
• Horror was another popular genre in Finland this quarter. 6.9% of demand for shows was for a horror series, which is the second largest share of demand for this genre in this report and above the global share of demand for horror (5.7%).

• Finland was the most anime-loving market in this report. 14.4% of demand for shows was for an anime in this market, well above the supply share these titles account for (3.1%).
• Perhaps related to the high demand for horror content in this market, the paranormal subgenre overperformed in Finland. These titles made up 3.0% of demand for series, the largest share of demand for this subgenre in this report.
• Educational content is oversaturated in Finland. These series account for around 1% of titles but only 0.5% of demand.

Finland Originals Share of Demand and Demand Distribution

• Reflecting the popularity of anime in Finland, Japanese broadcaster, Tokyo MX, ranked as the second largest platform by demand share in this market. 6.5% of demand for series was for a Tokyo MX original in Q2 2024.
• Shows from a Disney branded channel or platform made up a smaller share of demand in Finland than in any other market in this report – 3.1%.
• Another Japanese network, AT-X, ranked among the top platforms in Finland in terms of demand share for its originals. 3% of demand for shows in Finland was for an AT-X series.

• The popularity of anime content in Finland is reflected in high demand for shows like Delicious in Dungeon, which ranked higher here than other market in this report. But audiences here also have a broader love of animated content with shows like Rick and Morty and Family Guy ranking higher in demand.
• The video game adaptation, Fallout, found fans in Finland where it ranked higher in demand than in any other market in this report as the seventh most in-demand series.
• Light in the Tunnel, the long running Greek live investigative crime program, travelled well to Finland where it ranked as the 74th most in-demand show for the quarter, its highest rank in this report.
