US Fastest Risers August 2021: What digital originals grew the most in demand last month?

We looked at the digital original series which grew most in demand in the US in August compared to July.  The show at the top of this ranking for the month is Mr. Corman from Apple TV+.  The show premiered on August 6th and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Hulu has also been bringing the star power with its two original series that were among the top 10 digital originals rising fastest in demand this month.  The Nine Perfect Strangers cast features Melissa McCarthy and Nicole Kidman among others.  It was the series growing second fastest in demand this month, with more than 5 times its demand in July.  Demand for Hulu’s true crime spoof comedy, Only Murders in the Building, was up by 142.4% this month. The show stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez.

Two buddy comedies have seen a strong surge in demand this month.  Turner & Hooch, the reboot of the classic movie from Disney+ premiered on July 21.  Its demand in August was up 118.4% from July.  Meanwhile, the first part of the final season of Grace and Frankie was released on Netflix on August 13.  Demand for this show in August was more than double what it was in July.

Two musical comedies have also seen large rises in demand this month.  The animated musical comedy Centaurworld, from Netflix, had nearly 4 times as much demand in August as it did in July.  Schmigadoon!  premiered on July 16 and saw its demand increase by 80.8% the next month as audiences continued to discover the musical comedy from Apple TV+.

Both Modern Love and Outer Banks returned for their second season which was the main driver of both shows’ surge in demand this month.  Demand for both series was nearly 3 times higher in August compared to July.
