Beyond Home & Away: how Aussie TV got really good

If Australians are still a little sore that England defeated them at the World Cup that they had the decency to host, perhaps they should start looking for a silver lining. And it wouldn’t be particularly difficult either. Because Australia might have been beaten at sport by England, but when it comes to television we are completely under its spell.

The BBC has announced that it has just acquired the second series of Colin from Accounts, the comedy that effortlessly won over audiences when it aired earlier this year, along with other runaway Australian imports such as The Newsreader and Fisk. One of the most hyped shows scheduled for the autumn? Black Snow, an Australian crime drama.
