Disney leads in TV, streaming content 'demand share' for 2021

18 March, 2022

Although Netflix still has a dominant lead among all streamers when it comes to the key category of original content, for all TV and streaming content -- originals and library programming -- Walt Disney still commands the largest corporate “demand share” in the U.S., according to Parrot Analytics.

Disney had a 19.7% share in this overall category in the fourth quarter of 2021 -- down 2.5% from the same period a year ago. Paramount Global (formerly ViacomCBS), came in at 13.3%, down 3.8%, with WarnerMedia at 11.8% (up 1.7%) and NBCUniversal at 10.7%, with no change.

Netflix came in at 8% -- with a 6.7% increase year-over-year -- while Discovery had a 6.9% demand share (up 1.5%) and Amazon Prime Video had a 1.5% share (up 7%).
