Norway genre and subgenre preferences for series
- Norway was the market in this report with the highest share of demand for crime content. 20.4% of demand for shows this quarter was for a crime series here.
- The thriller genre was similarly popular with Norwegian audiences. 21% of demand for shows was for a thriller, a greater share of demand than any other market had for the genre in this report.
- Norway had one of the smallest shares of demand for children’s content. Only 2.9% of demand for shows was for a kids’ series which is well below the 5.6% share of demand globally for this genre.
- The procedural subgenre overperformed in Norway. The 0.8% of titles that the proceduralsubgenre accounts for drove 4.0% of demand for shows in Norway.
- Motoring, while a small subgenre, has clearly broken through with Norwegian audiences. The share of demand for this subgenre was more than twice its supply share.
- Cartoons made up only 1% of demand for shows in Norway. This is half of the global share of demand for the cartoon subgenre (2%).
Norway originals share of demand and demand distribution
- The popularity of procedurals in Norway helped CBS achieve its largest share of demand for shows here of markets in this report (7.4%).
- FX also reached its highest demand share in this report in Norway. 2.1% of demand for all series was for an FX original in Q2 2024.
- BBC content found fans in Norway where it accounted for 5.9% of demand for all series, thesecond largest share of demand for BBC originals in this report and well above the 3.3% share of demand for these shows globally.
- House of the Dragon was the most in-demand show in Norway in Q2 2024 after releasing its second season mid-June. This was a higher rank than it achieved in any other market in this report.
- High demand for crime content in Norway helped propel shows like Reacher, Tracker, and Will Trent to rank higher here than in any other market covered in this report.
- Yellowstone, while popular with American audiences, actually reached its highest demand rank in Norway for the quarter as the eighth most in-demand show.
