Our TV series measurement data shows that though demand for The Crown fell by 31%, it remained the most in-demand digital original this week. Luke Cage and Stranger Things also stayed consistent as the second and third-most popular series, but they are challenged this week by the newly released The Grand Tour from Amazon. The former Top Gear hosts’ new series premiered on November 18th and already ranks highly; we expect its demand to increase over the next week.
The rest of the digital original series had few changes this week. Luke Cage rose in popularity to become the second-most popular series while Stranger Things declined, but both these hit shows have about the same amount of demand. Demand for Narcos rose by 1.7% since last week, which was enough to overtake House of Cards. With Daredevil growing by 17% and The Grand Tour entering the top ten, Yahoo’s Community fell off of the list again.
Overall, as evidenced by our TV series measurement data, the top shows also remained fairly static. Demand for Westworld rose by nearly 15%, but The Walking Dead was still the top show by a large margin. American Horror Story rebounded by 20% due to its season finale on November 16th, overtaking Game of Thrones and The Flash. With demand for The Crown decreased, no digital original series ranked among the overall top ten this week. It was replaced by South Park which again rose into the top ten, perhaps because of its topical political storylines.
